Summary
Personal Assistant required for a highly intelligent twelve-year-old autistic boy with a sense of humour who lives in Redruth.
He is seeking someone with whom he can build a positive relationship and who can provide him with support.
He demonstrates traits consistent with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
He is not keen on noise and prefers peace and quiet, and he can get overwhelmed in busy environments.
His favourite activity is shopping for food, and he requires support using public transport, being aware of road safety and practicing money handling. Walks and exercise would also be of benefit to him and his wellbeing.
The rate of pay is £12.00 per hour, plus mileage and expenses.
A full driving licence and access to a personal vehicle are desirable but not essential.
Seven hours per week are available, and this is flexible.
Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
All offers of employment are subject to the successful candidate undergoing an enhanced DBS check, which will be facilitated by Cornwall Council.
