35-37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 4-5 months
City: BILLINGHAM
Carry out efficient inspection, repair and maintenance of a varied fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment to Ministry of Transport, Vehicle Manufacturers, Contract Hire Suppliers and Council Standards.
Key Responsibilities


Undertake inspections, maintenance, mechanical and body work repairs of all council vehicles and specialist equipment to Ministry of Transport, Vehicle Manufacturers, Contract Hire Suppliers and Council Standards.
Ensure that all statutory obligations within the areas of operations are complied with.
Undertake shift work and to work a call out rota outside of normal working hours to meet the business needs.
Ensure that standards of internal and external housekeeping are carried out and maintained.
Maintain adequate administrative records systems including job cards and time sheets.
Comply with health and safety policies, organisational statements and procedures report any incidents/accidents/hazards and take pro-active approach to health and safety matters in order to protect both yourself and others.
Carry out remedial work as required by Service Departments
Act as quick fix / diagnosis for non-planned vehicle attendances and accident repairs.
Ensure regulatory compliance with vehicle maintenance and repair standards including scheduled maintenance, breakdowns and recovery and maintenance of records
Authorise parts expenditure prior to ordering

Qualifications:


City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft qualification or recognised motor vehicle maintenance qualification equivalent to an NVQ level 2 or higher
Current full driving licence (Cat B)

Knowledge:


An up-to-date knowledge of modern vehicle experience of being able to diagnose logically

Experience:






Workshop Technician have experience of the maintenance and repair of car or light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonne.
Experience of prioritising tasks

Skills & Abilities:


Basic literacy/numeracy skills.
Ability to respond effectively in a disciplined environment whilst producing quality work consistently and to deadlines.
Ability to operate a range of tools and equipment as necessary.
Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Ability to undertake a range of routine administrative duties.
