ED Junior Clinical Fellow with a specialist interest - Emergency Medicine

6 or 12 months fixed term contract

This job is designed for someone who iscommitted to both Emergency Medicine as well as developing their portfolio in a particular area of interestfor them. The successful candidate will be given a timetable that covers clinical duties on the shop floor and SPA time set aside to work on a portfolio of activities in relation to their topic of interest.

In this new world portfolio careers are becoming increasingly attractive both for the clinician as well as for the multidisciplinary team they work within, bringing new skills and expertise that they can share with others. We pride ourselves on the close working between our Northwick Park and Ealing EDs and, with this in mind, we will expect the Junior Clinical Fellow to support the sharing of learning and standardisation of processes and guidelines on both sites

The Trust offers 10 specialty interests.Please specify in your Supporting Info your 1st and 2nd choice speciality that you are most interested in;

Quality Improvement Fellow, Teaching and Simulation Fellow, Trauma Fellow, Mental Health Fellow, Ultrasound Fellow, Digital Fellow, Climate and Sustainability Fellow , Social Anthropology Fellow, Research Fellow, & Complaints.

The successful candidate will beinvolved in all aspects of the care of patients in the Emergency Department at Northwick Park Hospital or Ealing Hospital, having pre-agreed a base site to work at in a clinical capacity. There will be the option to switch site after 6 months. They will have direct responsibility for the management of patients.

The successful candidate will spend 20% of their time developing their portfolio around their area of interest. Please come to the interview prepared to tell us about the area that sparks passion for you and that you would want to develop your skills in during your time spent working for our Trust

Essential Criteria:

GMC Registration

MBBS or equivalent

ALS or ACLS

NHS experience

The successful candidate will be allocated a Consultant Supervisor who will work alongside the Fellow to support them over the 6 or 12 months to achieve their personal goals including development of an online portfolio and their own professional development plan. The Fellow will be expected to undertake a structured appraisal at the end of the year which will support future revalidation processes. The ED Consultant body will also support networking for the Fellow with key representatives within the Trust in that area of interest. This will support the fostering of links between the ED team and external specialties that is key to running supportive and efficient Urgent and Emergency Care pathways.
