Dispenser Job Description JOB TITLE: Dispenser REPORTS TO: Lead Dispensing Technician HOURS: Job Summary: To ensure that a high quality, safe and efficient dispensing service is available to meet the needs of patients at all times. Job Responsibilities: To dispense prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with practice policies To receive goods To maintain efficient stock control with minimal wastage To maintain a tidy dispensary To monitor fridge temperatures To take in and hand out prescriptions To process prescription requests To deal with patient and third party prescription queries To collect prescription fees and check exemption from fees To proactively support the practice achievement of standards within the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme including undertaking DRUM reviews. Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality as per the SHS confidentiality policy. Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with SHS policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of person and sensitive data. Health & Safety: The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the SHS Health and Safety policy. Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patient needs. Effectively manager own time, workload and resources. Communication: The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to: Communicate effectively with other team members. Communicate effectively with patients and carers. Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly. Contribution to the Implementation of Services: The post-holder will: Apply SHS policies, standards and guidance. Participate in audits where appropriate.
