Summary

The Service

The Angus Mental Health Peer Support service provides peer support around mental health and wellbeing. The service is available to adults and young people aged 11-16(who attend high school) and are registered a GP practices in North Angus. The service provides a maximum of three sessions and is aimed at those with less complex need.

Peer support is defined as the help and support that people with lived experience of poor mental health and wellbeing can provide for others facing similar challenges.

Young Peoples Service - a team of Peer Support Workers work out of GP Practices in the North Locality of Angus (Forfar, Kirriemuir, Edzell, Brechin and Montrose) Peer workers may be required to work from more than one surgery and will be required to support young people in community based settings and schools throughout the North Locality of Angus.

As part of Angus tiered approach to mental health services, the peer support service is at level one providing information, advice, access to self-help and self management strategies and signposting.


The Role

The peer worker will provide one-to-one support and workshops and work as part of an integrated team within the surgeries, community settings and schools, across the north locality of Angus providing timely access to information, advice, guidance, tools and self management strategies to those referred to the service. The role involves accurate and timely recording of patient information on to an IT system.


You Will

Have personal experience of mental health & wellbeing challenges
Experience of supporting people with mental health challenges
Good communication skills
IT skills – understanding of basic IT packages – word, excel, publisher etc.
Have full driving licence, access to a vehicle to drive for work purposes.
