Summary

We’re looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced assembly Operative to join our busy manufacturing team.

You’ll work either in our saw mill or in our bed assembly area. You should be able to use basic hand tools, such as drills, screwdrivers, sanders, chisels etc and the operation of machines e.g. saws (rip, bandsaw, chopsaw).

Our ideal candidate will be able to train others to produce products to high quality and within expected timeframes. Have a detailed understanding of all products and processes within their work areas and be able to complete relevant documentation such as production records, H&S documents, stock control and FSC documents.

Hours: 37 hours a week. Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5pm, Friday 8.30 am to 4.30pm

Key Responsibilities


Undertake assigned duties in a cost effective manner through possession of full range of skills pertinent to area and/or full technical knowledge of most complex tasks. Responsible for stock and stock accuracy of products within area of control.
Proactively participate in training and development of self and others to enhance skills.
Comply with all H & S requirements report all issues
Monitor the quality of work produced in accordance with laid down procedures and standards for each task undertaken. Identifies problems and proactively identifies root cause and contributes to resolution.
To undertake machine setting, pre start checks and basic maintenance tasks.


Skills and Experience


Essential

Experience of working in a commercial environment, e.g., cleaning, manufacturing, stores/warehouse / customer facing requiring a range of skills and processes.
Commitment to participate in agreed training programs and to gaining appropriate qualifications
Experience of delivering services to meet contractual and quality standards
Personal motivation to achieve set targets.
Ability to work as a team player and on own initiative as and when required.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the post and meet manual handling requirements with reasonable adjustments.

Desirable

Full driving licence
FLT licence
Experience of working to ISO 9001 and Chain of Custody standards
Willingness to work flexibly during busy periods
Empathy towards people with a disability and particularly their employment and training needs
