Summary


The trust wishes to appoint Clinical Fellows in Gynaecological Oncology Surgery (equivalent to an SpR) working at the Fulham Road (Chelsea) site for November 2024.

The postholder will work under the supervision of Mr Desmond Barton, Mr Owen Heath, Ms Marielle Nobbenhuis, Mr John Butler and Mr Thomas Ind.

The job will allow the successful candidate to undertake focused work in the area of gynaecological oncology surgery.

There is also an expectation that the post holder participates in discussions with the Consultant group about performance, clinical system improvements, patient safety, education and training as well as day to day management issues.

The successful candidate will assist the Consultant Surgeons in the provision of Gynaecology Oncology Services including:-

Clinics

The postholder will support new and follow up gynaecology clinics.

Theatres

The post holder will be participating in theatre lists.

Academic /Research

The incumbent is expected to play a contributory role in current departmental research, audit, and teaching as well as lead research projects under the supervision of Consultants.

On-Call

The post holder will be expected to partake in the pelvic on-call rota (gynaecology and urology, 1:8) for the Trust. It is a non resident rota and provides cover for both sites of the Trust and The Royal Brompton Hospital.

Training

The postholder is expected to support and be involved with training the junior staff.

Other
• Attendance and presentation at multidisciplinary team meeting
• So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties the postholder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues
• The postholder undertakes exceptionally to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances
• The postholder undertakes exceptionally to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
