Summary


To take responsibility for the efficient and professional day to day delivery of the post room, and general portering services on site.

Whilst this is a Supervisory post it includes providing tasks of a practical nature within the portering department

To ensure sufficient staffing is available for the service whilst making the most efficient use of resources in line with budget and departmental rota.

To maintain a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors within the Hospital and grounds, and the protection of all Hospital assets.

To ensure all departmental records and paperwork are kept up to date and regular checks made for accuracy.

To ensure compliance with all H&S legislation and to be pro-active and forward thinking into new ways of working.

Work actively with the management team to develop Safe Systems of working and ensure full compliance from all team members at all times.

To communicate effectively via a variety of means with all levels of staff, patients and visitors. This may involve giving directions, explanations and making arrangements for movement of goods and services. Face to face contact should be managed professionally and conflicts resolved.

Ensure all members of the team adhere to all Trust policies and procedures, taking any corrective action as appropriate.

Initiate and co-ordinate responses to incidents and emergencies. To liaise closely with the emergency services.

To attend Trust mandatory and training courses as requested.

To arrange induction and annual training, along with any refreshers required for all members of the department and deliver departmental training as appropriate.

To ensure PDR’s are completed for all members of the department, ensuring full records are completed.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
