Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Learning Disability Liaison Nursing Team at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will be based at St George’s Hospital in Tooting but travel to other sites may be required on occasion. We are an established team who provide expert, caring flexible and holistic support to patients with a diagnosed Learning Disability receiving inpatient or outpatient care at our busy Acute Trust.

We are looking for a qualified learning disability nurse who has knowledge and experience of working with people with learning disabilities and a good understanding of health issues.

This is a clinically facing role and as such you are expected to be on site. Interviews will be face to face only.

You will be expected to:
• Provide clinical assessments and intervention for people with learning disabilities, working closely with the clinical nurse specialist for learning disabilities and within the existing skilled safeguarding team.
• Work in a rewarding, challenging and developing service, which offers the candidate the opportunity to extend their assessment skills and knowledge, particularly in a Hospital setting.
• Review and initiate developments to enhance the quality of services for patients with learning disabilities and their carers and families
• Be willing to develop your knowledge and skills in a supportive environment. Candidates must have an understanding of current health and social care issues which affect people with learning disabilities. You will need to be able to work within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Successful participants will receive an induction programme, with support from the Clinical Nurse Specialist for learning disabilities and the Safeguarding Lead Nurse, as well as other opportunities to develop further. The post sits within the wider Safeguarding Adults team at the Trust.

You are welcome to get in touch to discuss your specific circumstances if you meet the essential criteria and are interested in applying.

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the country's principal teaching hospitals and our main site is shared with St George's, University of London, which trains medical students and carries out advanced medical research.
