Summary
We are looking for a band 2 Ward Clerk / Receptionist who is motivated, enthusiastic and caring with a genuine interest in working with patients with cancer.
The successful candidate should be able to work on their own but also as part of a team.
You must possess excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate a sympathetic understanding and empathy with patients.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients on arrival to the unit.
The post holder would have the ability to be flexible and organise and prioritise their own workload, demonstrating the ability to work on their own or as part of a team.
They would be responsible for maintaining patient information on the Patient Administration System used within the unit to ensure accurate and up to date records are kept.
The post holder would be responsible for answering the chemotherapy unit reception phone, answering patient queries and signposting accordingly.
The Chemotherapy service is led by a Senior Sister who is supported by her deputy. We work closely with the Systemic Anti- Cancer Treatment Clinical Nurse Specialist and her community team to develop an extended service. The oncology and haematology service consists of specialist Clinical Nurse Specialist who work closely with the Consultants and the Chemotherapy Nurses. The delivery of the Chemotherapy, recognising side effects and to be able to escalate and treat any problems appropriately.
Effective communication skills are essential.
