Summary


Macmillan Breast Care Support worker

This post provides an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person interested in working within Cancer Care.

The post holder will be expected to support the Breast Care Nurses to ensure the smooth, safe and efficient running of the team. As part of the multi-disciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the efficient seamless service provision with a high standard of care by providing elements of direct and indirect patient care and clerical work.

This post will offer the opportunity for personal development within a supportive environment.



The post holder will be expected to support the Breast Care nurses (BCN) to ensure the smooth, safe and efficient running of the team. As part of the Multi -disciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the efficient seamless service provision with a high standard of care by providing elements of direct and indirect patient care and clerical work in domains that have previously only been within the remit of the BCN, having first acquired the underpinning knowledge and locally assessed level of competencies to do so.

Duties will be varied and dependent on the support needed on a daily basis, by the nursing staff. The post holder will be expected to carry out assigned tasks, including care of patients, in support of, and supervised by a registered nurse.

It is anticipated that this role will continue to develop through the acquisition of further skills, knowledge and competencies to be determined within the clinical team, with a focus on patient need. Through in service training dependant on individual needs.
