Summary

As a Design Engineer you will design and develop new and bespoke products from concept to market launch, as determined through business development and customer requirements. You will assist in the delivery of key project milestones, as well as providing technical support to a number of internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing:

Work on new product development projects in line with the approved stage gate process
Plan and manage all allocated project tasks, ensuring completion within the agreed timescales
Use initiative to design and develop new products or design innovative solutions to improve the design of existing products to satisfy the briefs provided
Preparation of all technical drawings using the 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawing software provided
Generate and maintain the parts lists/bill of materials in line with QA procedures
Prototype designs, prepare test samples and conduct validation testing to ensure the design satisfies the relevant standards / customer requirements
Interpret test results, making conclusions and present recommendations to the project team
Maintain test records and produce test reports in a manner described in the QA procedures
Liaise with the CMP certification engineers to assist with third party witness testing with certification bodies
Coordinate with the production teams to ensure all components are designed for manufacture / assembly and confirm cost targets have been achieved
Provide technical assistance to the product management / sales teams in terms of product information, problem solving and application training

Who we are looking for:

To apply, we ask that you have a suitable qualification in engineering or product design and be highly skilled with 3D CAD modelling and producing technical drawings. Experience in research and development and working with tight tolerances are also essential. Any experience of high volume turned; milled and moulded parts would also be desirable.

To ensure timely delivery of products to the market, good organisation, problem solving, and time management skills are a must, as well as the ability to create innovative products, whilst still maintaining attention to detail.

Alongside your desire to design, you will also be very ‘hands on’, demonstrating you have the ability to turn your designs into working prototypes, which you can validate by performing the relevant tests you have planned out.

An understanding of the need to work within prevailing standards constraints is essential. You will be required to build up a working knowledge of the relevant European and International standards and Directives.

This position will be on a full-time basis working 35 hours per week, dayshift.
