Summary


This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the established and innovative Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service as part of the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trusts CAMHS/SSD Directorate. The post holder will be based in the CAMHS Community Team working alongside the Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

The CAMHS Team works with children and young people that may be experiencing mental health problems and neurodevelopmental disorders. The service supports children and young people and their families and support team to create goals and tailor interventions according to their needs using evidence based practice. The CAMHS Community Team provide effective delivery of mental health and physical health, including Speech and Language assessment and intervention to children and young people with complex mental health problems. CAMHS recognise the importance of the contribution of Speech and Language Therapists and Allied Health Professionals working with this population.

You will work alongside the Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for contributing to the identification of speech, language and communication needs of the individuals supported by this service, highlighting the reasonable adjustments to be made to enable children and young people to access therapeutic interventions, providing assessment and advice where appropriate, signposting to relevant services, alongside supporting the capacity and capabilities of the staff team with regard to communication issues.

You will develop and provide a Specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to Children and Young People with speech, language and communication needs including autism as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities includes individual assessment, therapy and management, training, advice and liaison through a consultative approach. Developing specialist diagnostic assessment skills will be supported by the service.

You will be well supported by a Highly Specialist SLT and Speech and Language Therapy Clinical Lead within CAMHS with many opportunities for peer support and clinical supervision. The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines. You will enjoy close links with our team and our SLT colleagues within the East Midlands, and benefit from excellent levels of support, supervision, IT and CPD opportunities.

• To independently provide a specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention and advice service to children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs and / or Autism Spectrum Disorder accessing Community CAMHS.
• To develop and provide specialist packages of care to CYP within CAMHS Community
• To work as an integral part of a Community CAMHS multi-disciplinary teams, providing training, support and coaching to enhance understanding of CYP accessing CAMHS with specialist needs in relation to communication.
• Contributing to and developing guidance and resources for SLT's & other clinicians within CAMHS to enhance communication and understanding of CYP within the service, particularly those with neurodevelopmental issues.
• To work collaboratively with leads to further embed SLT processes within CAMHS and to work with them on appropriate service developments as requested.
• Help to maintain and develop a high quality, motivated and effective SLT CAMHS team.
• To be responsible for supporting junior colleagues, student SLTs and assistant speech and language therapists within the Community CAMHS Teams.
