Summary


We have a great opportunity for an experienced member of staff to join our Whalley Team as a medical secretary.

A strong background in administration and secretarial skills is required. The post will specifically support medical, nursing and other health professionals delivering clinical services in our Whalley learning disability service concentrating on scheduling, typing dictated records, keeping patient records up to date within electronic clinical systems, managing prescription provision, and taking notes / minutes and other related duties as required. As further learning disability inpatient develops the post will also support the delivery of clinical services in these locations also.

This is a full time role that will be primarily completed on site in Whalley as part of an on-site multi-disciplinary team with a long history of providing high quality clinical services.



To provide a comprehensive secretarial, administration and information service to specified Consultant’s / Health Professionals and their team. To facilitate the organisation of the workload of the Consultant / Health Professionals and their team and coordinate their activities with other medical secretaries to ensure an efficient and confidential service is provided.

As LSCFT Learning Disability Inpatient Services develop (Water Meadow View – new LD Inpatient provision being built by end of 2025) this post will also provide support to medical & senior clinical staff in that establishment.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
