Summary

Position: Mechanical Engineering Technician
Role:
We are seeking experienced technicians to enhance our existing engineering workforce. These technicians should have relevant exposure within a heavy manufacturing production environment. Successful applicants will specialise in mechanical maintenance, with some basic electrical experience. Reporting to the engineering team leaders, the successful candidates will have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship and gained proven experience within a heavy production environment.

This role involves working a 38-hour week on a three-shift pattern over a five-day week (Monday to Friday). A multi-skilled team of technicians per shift provides engineering support to all production departments.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety:
    Exhibit a sound Health & Safety work ethic at all times.
  • Front Line Maintenance Support:
    Utilise knowledge and experience of sound engineering practices within a modern production environment to offer front line maintenance support to all production departments daily.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM):
    Carry out PPM activities across the site as required.
  • Routine Maintenance Tasks:
    Perform routine maintenance tasks on Site Services, including Compressed Air Systems, HPHW Systems, Package Boilers, Cooling Towers, and Refrigeration Plant.
  • Fault Finding & Rectification:
    Identify and rectify mechanical and basic electrical faults in a modern production environment. This includes working with conveying systems, couplings, bearings, motors, and gearboxes. Experience with HPHW/Steam boilers may be advantageous.
  • Process Improvement Projects:
    Participate in process improvement projects designed to reduce downtime and enhance departmental efficiencies.

Training:
Successful applicants will undergo an onsite familiarisation and training program during the first six months of their employment.
