Summary


Looking to develop your career as a pharmacy technician? We are looking for a pharmacy technician with a specialist interest in Education, Training and Development to join our team.

This role is based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, easily located by train from Truro station, and only 20 minutes drive from the outstanding Cornish coast.

To co-ordinate all aspects of education, training & development for Pharmacy Technicians, Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants & Pharmacy Apprentices within the department.

To provide advice and support, to Pharmacy Assessors, assigned mentors and all learners working towards a qualification.

To maintain and update all assigned training related Standard Operational Procedures and in-house competencies related to the pharmacy department.

To perform as an accredited checking technician and a medicines optimisation technician.

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week.

We provide an innovative clinical pharmacy service, combining technology and clinical pharmacy expertise. With full deployment of electronic prescribing and administration in the inpatient and outpatient setting and fully automated dispensing.

We are a recognised national forerunner for innovation in fields such as antimicrobial resistance and the adoption of Scan4Safety standards, as was recognised in the 2019 HSJ Patient Safety Awards.

All these functions are supported by an excellent wholesale dealer supply service, a well-equipped licensed pharmacy technical services unit and the full range of medicines optimisation support services including medicines information, education and training, formulary support and digital medicines.

Sustainability is integral to the Trust achieving the NHS Net Zero target. All staff are therefore encouraged and supported to implement new ways of working within their field of expertise.

- Experience working in a patient-based environment and in a multi-disciplinary team

- Experience of training and assessing staff

- Supervisory experience

- Good all round communication skills

- Able to demonstrate high levels of accuracy in all areas of work

- Ability to prioritise work and manage time effectively

- Able to work effectively as part of a team

- To be self-motivated and demonstrate leadership skills

- Able and willing to undertake additional training to support requirements for this post
