Summary


The Pharmacy Technical Services Department have a vacancy for a Band 5 Senior Pharmacy Technician to work within our unit. Working in our specialist facility you will be part of a dedicated team preparing vital medicines for our patients.

This is an exciting opportunity for Paharmacy Technicians from all aspects of pharmacy to look at training in a specialist area with lots to offer. You will assist in the preparation of injectable medicines such as chemotherapy, intravenous nutrition and other life-saving therapies for our patients.

You will also learn new skills giving you the opportunity to progress a career in the science and manufacturing field We currently have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to undertake a development post to become a Band 5 Senior Technician subject to Annex 21 terms and conditions.

We would welcome applicants from hospital and community pharmacy that have a desire to expand their knowledge and gain expertise in this very specialised area of pharmacy.

Banding and starting salary will be dependent upon qualifications and prior experience - Band 5 (annexe 21) allows for in role training to be completed over a specific time frame. The post holder if not experienced in Technical Services, will be expected to complete intensive in-house training followed by undertaking Pre and In Process Checking training allowing them to check products to be made under both Section 10 exemption and also under our Specials license.

On-call duties, weekend and Bank Holiday working on rotation is required. Flexible start times would be required once trained in radiopharmacy activities.

Upon completion of this training the role will include supporting the Lead Operations Technician and Lead Training technician in managing the Unit, provision of supervision and training of other Technical Services staff, and preparation of a wide range of products in aseptic, chemotherapy, radiopharmacy and non-sterile areas.

The post holder will act as a validated dispenser for the manufacture of a range of sterile products, support the manufacture of radiopharmaceutical products and assist in the requirements of providing a non-sterile manufacturing service. The post holder will also provide direct supervision of a team of technicians and pharmacy assistants and support the requirements of the department Quality Management systems.
