Summary


As a key member of the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.

The aim of this fellowship is to prepare the Fellow for Consultant practice as a General Ophthalmologist with a special interest in oculoplastic surgery.

We would aim to train the Fellow to be proficient in all oculoplastic procedures that are commonly performed by a sub-specialist (eyelid tumour management and reconstruction, eyelid malposition procedures, ptosis, lacrimal drainage surgery, blepharoplasty)

The post offers complete surgical training in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbit including orbital decompression surgery. Oculoplastic clinics run alongside a designated consultant so that support and supervision is available. The department currently has 2 oculoplastic consultants so there is a wide exposure to clinical and surgical techniques.

Supervise operating theatre sessions 6 outpatient sessions including primary care and 1 Teaching session.

To act as point of contact for Oculoplastic support to junior medical staff within the department and undertake some general ophthalmic outpatient clinic commitment.


To coordinate and undertake acute Oculoplastic service, under the guidance of the Consultant Ophthalmologist.

Organisational.


Attending to administrative matters and correspondence relating to patients Clinical Governance.
