Summary


We are looking for an exceptional midwife to join the midwifery team of the Homerton Healthcare on our journey of excellence!

The International Recruitment Pastoral Support Midwife will be responsible for recruiting and retaining international educated midwives (IEM) by providing teaching, clinical support and pastoral care to internationally educated and recruited midwives (IEM) throughout their pre-registration and preceptorship period.

They will have a visible clinical presence, supporting IEM. They will provide clinical expertise and contribute to service developments in the maternity unit.

The International Recruitment Pastoral Support Midwife will be responsible for:
• Leading recruitment of International Educated Midwives (IEM) and working with the Homerton Healthcare Head of People Development to ensure a robust process is maintained during initial arrivals in the UK.
• Playing a key role in supporting the orientation of international midwives during the initial arrivals and lead on induction to the clinical area.
• Working closely with the IEM Practice Development Midwife to ensure IEM recruits are supported to complete the NMC OSCE in a timely manner to gain their NMC Midwifery registration.
• Developing an accelerated preceptorship programme for IEMs once they have achieved NMC midwifery registration recognising their prior experience.
• Designing the clinical orientation programme for overseas recruits of newly registered midwives in the UK as well as orientation for those who work as maternity support workers whilst awaiting the start of their OSCE programme.
• Providing leadership and management in international recruitment with focus on pastoral support for the IEM.
• Being visible clinically and able to work clinically in order to work alongside international trained midwives during their induction programme in the absence of the IEM Practice development midwife.
