Summary

Role: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (packaging)

Location: Wigan

Hours: Contracted 38 hours per week working Monday to Thursday, 7am-5pm (4 day week, NO CONTRACTEDWEEKEND OR SHIFT WORK)

Our client is a leading independent flexographic print and small format, eco-friendly corrugated cardboard box manufacturer, based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. They produces quality sustainable packaging solutions. Their full range of services includes design, material testing, printing, and distribution.

Role

We are seeking a high calibre Multi-skilled Engineer (elecrical bias) to join our clients team at their Wigan Site. If you’re an engineering professional looking for your next career opportunity, this could be the role for you. The role will be to maintain business as usual for the plant operations, to continuously improve availability/reliability of the equipment. The site currently has a mix of new and older equipment with a project plan to impliment new machinary over the coming year.

The Multi-skilled Engineer will provide a technical support resource to the manufacturing operation, delivering optimum asset reliability and performance through an effective asset maintenance and Continuous Improvement approach.

Key Accountabilities:

- Technical support resource for reactive maintenance across plant to ensure a safe, timely and effective close out of live issues.
- Proactive fault prevention and continuous improvement activities to deliver key maintenance KPIs
- Complete root cause analysis reports on major engineering stoppages across site.
- Support the close out of health and safety, Quality and CI actions lists.
- Reliability focused using modern techniques such as TPM, RCA, RCM and FMEA.
- Coaching and supporting operators to develop their skills on assets across site.
- Provide support for project activity and change initiatives as appropriate.
- Set up and management of all service agreements.
- Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment
- Monitor and control maintenance costs
- Improve health and safety policies and procedures
- Write maintenance strategies to help with upkeep of all machinery on site

Skills/Experience:

- Can Do Attitude
- Time served Multi-skilled Engineer (electrical bias, 17th Edition or above benefical).
- Experience of packaging and printing machinary a distinct benefit.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player who adopts a continuous improvement approach.
- The ability to self-manage workloads against the correct priorities
- Experience of working in a fast-paced engineering environment (ideally FCMG) is essential.
- Experience of CMMS utilisation and development (FIIX)
- Strong understanding of H&S in a manufacturing environment.
- Awareness of modern maintenance techniques
- Diagnose breakdown problems
- Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs Work with specialist equipment, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), which control machinery on factory lines
- Computer literate (excel, word etc.)
