The postholder will take part in one of two clinical rotas:
• 1:6 rota to provide an overnight 'clinical academic fellow' at registrar level to support the first on-call registrar at Northwick Park Hospital. The Department of General Surgery at NPH provides a comprehensive range of emergency and elective surgical services. General Surgery currently admits approximately 5,500 emergency patients per year. Elective Colorectal, Orthopaedic and some General Surgery patients are operated on at Central Middlesex Hospital both in the ACAD and BeCAD operating theatres. Please see attached JD.

Growing demand within the gastroenterology service for both 2-week wait and routine referrals has led to the need to increase both clinic capacity and endoscopy lists across the Trust. It is envisaged that 5 service delivery sessions per week will be worked.

The remaining time gives the post-holder the opportunity to undertake research at St Mark’s Hospital, for a trainee wishing to obtain a higher degree. Various projects are available, under the supervision of the gastroenterology consultants at St Mark’s.
