Summary
Research is a core part of our culture at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, with a track record of excellence and exponential growth in recent years. The Research Portfolio Manager is a fundamental role to the Trust and will be vital in assessing and arranging research across their divisions.
The Research Portfolio Manager is expected to manage the set-up of research, performance manage trials and have meetings with key R&I stakeholders. The department consists of approximately 40 staff (including admin, governance and finance teams and a team of research nurses). The post holder will also be required to represent the Trust at external R&I meetings across the North West London sector.
The person appointed will be expected to play a key role in evolving the Trust’s Research strategies and procedures, in support of the Trusts aspirations. In terms of Research Strategy, the Trust is keen to develop and improve the number of studies it undertakes as well developing research partnerships across the NHS and with the private sector or other research institutions.

• Conduct sponsorship reviews of research on behalf of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.
• The Research Portfolio Manager will co-ordinate and maintain the R&I databases to ensure oversight of research activity.
• To be responsible for the R&I operations management of their own portfolio of research within their named research division/s. This will include supporting the research teams, internal support departments, the clinical research network (CRN), liaising with relevant clinical trial sponsor representatives to ensure smooth set up of clinical trials.
• Feasibility assessment of new studies: provide and receive highly complex, sensitive and/or contentious research information.
• Work in partnership with the Divisional research lead and Research Delivery Leads to ensure the trial portfolio is delivered in practice, R&I Office staff management within the department in conjunction with CRN.
