Summary


St. George’s is a tertiary referral unit for neurosurgery and neurology children. Children are undergoing treatment for brain tumours, head injury, hydrocephalus and other disorders, under the supervision of 3 paediatric Neurosurgical consultants and their team. Neurology patients have a range of disorders, including complex epilepsy, neurodegenerative processes, encephalitis, childhood strokes and peripheral nerve diseases. Children with severe Traumatic Brain injury and Acquired Brain injury undergo a period of neurorehabilitation before transfer to community care or specialist rehabilitation units.

To provide expert assistance to the Consultant Neurosurgeons , Paediatric Neurologists ,Consultant Paediatricians and Specialist Registrars in the provision of a high quality service to patients in Neurosurgery and Neurology Department. The post holders are expected to participate in all aspects of the patient pathway as appropriate and will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge, working within the environments of the operating theatres, wards and outpatient clinics.
