We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate personal assistant to support our son, a vibrant 27-year-old individual with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He is a wheelchair user who requires assistance with all his daily and personal needs. Despite his challenges, our son is an enthusiastic individual who enjoys various activities, such as listening to music, watching TV, using his iPad, and reading. Your role will be essential in helping our son access the community and engage in various activities that enhance my overall well-being. Initially, the position will involve supporting our son for five afternoons a week, 3 hours per session, for a total of fifteen hours per week. Possibly more hours will be available after trial period. This arrangement will be subject to review after three months.



Location: PE 33



Job Description:

Provide personal care and assistance to our son in his home environment.

Support him with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.

Engage with him as a companion and assist him in enjoying his hobbies and interests.

Assist with using electronic devices such as iPads and other forms of entertainment.

Empowering and assisting in maintaining my independence.

Ensure our son's safety and well-being at all times.

Help and support in and around the house.

Any other reasonable duties as requested.



Person specification



Essential:

Full UK driving license holder with appropriate business insurance cover.

The ideal candidate would require a calming, reassuring, Caring and Patience

The person I employ, must have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work including total respect for my privacy.

Excellent command of the English language.

Punctuality and reliability are essential.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compassionate and patient demeanour.


Dog lover.We have a friendly family dog.





Desirable:

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred or willingness to learn.

Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual's needs.

Non-smoker preferred.





Summary terms and conditions

The rate of pay for this position is £11.68 per hour.

Hours and times of work: 15 Hrs Per Week, Time discussed further at interview.

The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

Free Care Skills training is provided to employed staff.







The post is subject to the following:

A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.

Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer.

Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
