Summary

** Please Note - Our organisation can not provide work sponsorship, please do not apply for this vacancy if you require this to work in the UK **

This vacancy is for a personal assistant to join our client’s support package to support them in their own home. We will be your legal employer on behalf of the client and you will not be asked to support other clients. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period.

This is a part-time (16hrs per week) vacancy for an experienced female Personal Care Assistant. Flexibility with working hours may sometimes be necessary due to our clients’ unpredictable day to day needs and may include the occasional weekend shift but will generally be to work 2 days a week, 9am to 5pm as agreed.

About the Client and Support Needed:

I live with my cat Clive. I have complex neurological disorders which can vary from day to day. I am a strong believer in equality and the social model of disability. I have been involved in the disability movement for several years.

I enjoy socialising and getting out and about. My hobbies include visiting places, car boots (I like a good bargain), gardening (I grow some of my own fruit and vegetables), crafts (I will have a go at most things) and occasionally I run my own craft workshops.

I am looking for a personal assistant who is extremely reliable, flexible and adaptable. I need somebody who can communicate in English and is able to speak, understand, read and write English clearly as I am hard of hearing.

I will need you to keep accurate records and you will be required to complete my daily work log and medication chart and be able to use your initiative and keep yourself occupied when there is nothing specific to do. You will need to be willing to help take care of my cat now and then and to provide emergency and holiday cover which will be pre-planned as far as possible.

Responsibilities include: administering medication, assistance with personal care, moving and handing, domestic tasks and driving.

I like to do as much as I can myself but as my condition is so unpredictable the amount and type of support I need can vary from day to day. I will need my PA in close-proximity most of the time due to seizures.

Due to the nature of the support, when I go into respite you will not be paid but will have the opportunity to work extra shifts prior to the respite being taken. You can also take annual leave during this time if you wish to do so. You will be informed of this in advance.
