Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust for a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team as part of a well-established rotational training programme.

You will be supported in your role and development by our Principal and Senior Pharmacists, and the post will be rotational through a number of specialties including: Acute medicine, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Oncology/Aseptic services, Cardiology, Care of Elderly/Frailty, Medicines Information, Patient Services, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Trauma and Orthopaedics, and Surgery. Future exciting plans for rotations in mental health and general practice are also in progress.

You will be encouraged to develop within this role and we would support you in achieving all the required skills, knowledge and behaviours described in the Foundation Pharmacist Framework. We will also encourage you to become actively involved in training other staff, supporting the education and training initiatives across our department.

Tunbridge Wells is a vibrant town, with great shopping and nightlife, and is within easy reach of London, the channel ports and the beautiful countryside and beaches of Kent and Sussex.

We welcome current Trainee Pharmacists to apply for this role. You will be primarily based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

You will play an essential role in optimising patient care during their hospital stay and at discharge. You will be an important part of the multi-disciplinary team; liaising with doctors, nurses and other allied healthcare professionals. Whilst on clinical rotations, you will be entirely ward based, maximising on opportunities to interact with patients. We have an outstanding Medicines Management Technician team who will work closely with you on the wards.

Our department excels in nurturing talent and developing foundation pharmacists into senior members of the team. We will provide you with opportunities to flourish in your role.

As part of the role you will also take part in our weekend, Bank Holiday, late night and on-call rotas.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.
