1 Full time position – Substantive

Working across the Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington, Altrincham (WTWA) Hospital sites supporting personalised care provision for people living with and beyond cancer.

This post is predominantly patient facing.

Skills & knowledge required

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic professional who is organised and IT literate. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for ensuring people living with and affected by cancer receive compassionate, person-centred care. The ability to work independently and as part of a team with the flexibility to meet the demands of this exciting development role is a must.

Relevant health and social care experience at AfC Band 3 or equivalent essential.

Please note this is very much a non-clinical role but working directly with patients and/or cancer professionals.

Main duties: Improving the care we deliver for people living with or affected by cancer is a key priority for the Trust. We are looking to recruit a Macmillan Cancer Care Support Co-ordinator to join our expanding team across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The Macmillan Cancer Care Support Co-ordinator role is an integral part of the Cancer workforce and involves direct contact with people living with and beyond cancer, to support them throughout their cancer care. You will work as part of a team who cover a range of different cancer specialities and will be a point of contact for patients and carers, supporting and co-ordinating their aftercare. This will include assisting with personalised care, support planning (based on holistic needs assessment), treatment summaries, providing health and well-being information and support which includes personalised stratified follow up and helping to promote cancer awareness. You will work closely with all grades of medical and nursing staff and wider health care teams. This role is a relatively new introduction to the cancer workforce, it involves competency-based practice supported by an established learning and development programme.
