Summary


To lead and champion delivery of the Trust’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) agenda with a specific focus on improving the diversity of the Trust’s workforce, enhancing the experience of employees in protected groups and supporting the Trust to address inequality in employment and service delivery.

To work with the Director of People to lead on delivery of the Trust EDI Strategy and associated plans and to ensure the EDI elements of the People Strategy are progressed.

To act as subject matter expert and provide specialist training, guidance and information to the Trust Board, People Team, managers, staff side colleagues, internal networks and staff on diversity and inclusion issues across the Trust.

Be the Trust’s key resource in relation to progressing the workforce EDI agenda.

Monitor and lead on delivery of the Trust EDI Strategy and plans

Work with the Head of Leadership and Organisational Development.

Coordinate and lead the Trust’s response to its internal and external reporting obligations.

Research and keep up to date with all legislative and best practice and compliance requirements and advise the Director of People and other Trust Leaders on how these should be met, including any risks to delivery.

Work with Integrated Care System (ICS) partners to support the development of a system strategic direction on EDI which supports delivery of Trust objectives.

Maintain an overview of work within the Trust to monitor and assess patient inequalities;

Review the actions being taken to improve health outcomes for patients and ensure actions are aligned with the Trust’s overall workforce equality objectives.

Work with the Freedom to Speak up Guardian

Work in partnership with People Managers and Service Managers to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion is fully embedded in operational business plans.

Develop a forward plan of awareness-raising and engagement events through celebratory months.

Develop cultural competency through training, staff stories and discussion sessions that promote lived experience and diversity of cultures, identities and thought, along with increasing inclusivity and promoting understanding to help reduce bias.

Be the Trust’s key resource in relation to progressing the workforce EDI agenda, and act as the Trust’s expert by challenging, shaping and overseeing delivery of the Trust’s equality, diversity and inclusion objectives.

Monitor and lead on delivery of the Trust EDI Strategy and plans and support the Director of People and other senior members of the People Directorate in reviewing delivery of the EDI elements of the People Strategy.

Work with the Head of Leadership and Organisational Development to influence the further development of a Trust culture of inclusion and belonging.

Coordinate and lead the Trust’s response to its internal and external reporting obligations including the WRES, WDES, EDS, PSED, and GDP, and establish and maintain systems and processes which enable the reporting of progress against associated action plans and KPI’s and drive identification of areas for further action / improvement

Research and keep up to date with all legislative and best practice and compliance requirements and advise the Director of People and other Trust Leaders on how these should be met, including any risks to delivery.
