Role: Data Analyst

Contract Length: Anticipated 3 months

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Remote Working with occasional visits to Beacon House, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Great Western Road, Gloucester GL1 3NN. This role may include cross site travel post holder must be independently mobile

Pay Rate: £21.66 per hour PAYE

Summary:

Provide high level data analytical support in respect of identified short and long term workforce related projects to a range of stakeholders, including Board level. This includes internal reporting, such as divisional or executive board reports, and external reporting, such as ICS, Regional or National reports. The postholder will be expected to lead, adjust and amend numerical plans as required.

Experience;

Expert technical specialist knowledge of ESR or similar system.
Have an in depth knowledge of NHS data definitions, terminology, This includes a thorough understanding of the current issues facing the NHS and the role of information in this context.
Demonstrable relational advanced database experience and skills including extraction, manipulation and presentation of complex data etc.
Expert skills in the use of data extraction from ESR or similar system, including the tailoring of unique reports using ESR BI and PC applications such as Excel, Publisher, Word and Access, using skills at an advanced level of expertise.
Good understanding of the National Pay and benefits system and an awareness of the business-critical implications for the Trust.
Experience of working in the NHS and an understanding of the current issues facing the NHS relating to workforce challenges.
Experience in the knowledge and use of NHS workforce metrics and reporting processes for both local and national requirements.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working within information analysis.
Experience in high level analysis, interpretation and resolving highly complex statistical/ information problems and presenting this in a manner that all audiences can understand.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities;

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present highly complex information, taking account of the needs and level of the audience.
Ability to identify problems and inconsistencies with complex data and produce workable solutions, with the ability to respond to sudden and unexpected priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills, able to quickly build credibility and influence at all levels of the organisation and wider health/social care system.
Experience of working with highly complex data independently.
Advanced level of skill in information analysis, including the ability to receive highly complex and sensitive information on staff and financial details and the ability to interpret and draw conclusions from it. The data may be conflicting and contentious to those receiving it.
High level of negotiation and influencing skills.
Ability to engage with senior staff at a professional level to identify management information needs.
Ability to consider problems and issues in the broad context and look beyond the immediate situation, thinking strategically and horizon scanning.
Ability to write and present clear reports and presentations, taking into account the audience who will receive it who may have varying levels of data literacy.
Excellent keyboard skills and an advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft office applications to deal with a wide range of IT applications which are highly time driven.
Ability to work under pressure, dealing with changing and frequently competing priorities to tight deadlines.
Ability to manage and prioritise own workload to achieve Trust priorities and objectives in an effective and efficient manner, with minimum supervision.
Tact, diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
Ability to analyse highly complex information and workforce trends to identify key concerns and develop potential solutions.
Well-developed sensitivity to stakeholder relationships with a constructive yet strong approach to challenge.
Ability to prepare high quality written reports for Trust & Divisional Boards and other equivalent meetings and to recommend actions arising from the information analysis.
The ability to explain complex data and information issues to non-information staff, field questions and offer advice to assist in sound decision making.
Attention to detail with the ability to find key messages and trends within large and complex data sets using own initiative and autonomy.
Uses evidence to make improvements, increase efficiencies and seeks out innovation wherever possible to streamline reporting and improve practices.
Ability to carry out local audits for robust governance and to demonstrate where (if any) changes to process needs to be implemented.



Qualities;

Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions and where work is unpredictable, eg, constant phone calls requesting advice.
The ability to work on own initiative, responding to immediate requests.
Demonstrates strong empathy and sensitivity to the needs/experiences of individuals/groups.

Qualifications;

Degree level education or equivalent.
In depth knowledge of an information related field either acquired by postgraduate study to diploma level or equivalent experience.
