The department is seeking to appoint a Trust Junior Clinical Fellow (SHO) as part of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Rota for an initial 6 months, starting as soon as possible - April 2024 . Experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent is desirable.
Main duties of the job
The role involves routine ward management, both Obstetric and Gynaecology outpatient attendance with consultant and registrar supervision. On call duties for the labour ward, early pregnancy assessment unit and A+E. A full shift system is in operation, and rotates through obstetrics, gynaecology with set of 4 nights and 3 weekend nights.
The Trust Officer will be expected to become entirely proficient in the management of all normal pregnancies and their delivery, and receive supervised training in abnormal obstetrics and gynaecology. There are opportunities to develop skills and competencies to those of registrar level under supervision if required.
Working for your organisation
The Obstetric Service covers the Obstetric needs of the entire population of the Hillingdon Area and includes, increasingly, a part of Ealing, Harrow and South Bucks. The annual delivery rate is 4200. There is a purpose built 12-room delivery suite which has recently been refurbished, in addition to the antenatal and post natal wards.
The gynaecological out patient services are centralised in the Cumberlege Unit, which includes general gynaecology clinics, colposcopy, fertility, urogynaecology and urodynamics. There is an outpatient hysteroscopy service within the unit, but all day cases and inpatient surgery is within the main theatre suite.
