Summary
Enfield Youth Justice Service provides comprehensive packages of support for young people who have been seen in and out of court or in court settings and who maybe identified as at risk of offending /reoffending .The service works to integrate education, employment , health and wellbeing in interventions for young people and their families with a view to reducing the risk of offending and improving the opportunities for young people to move on from criminal behaviour and associations providing them with positive structured activities in the hope this disrupts the exploitation pathway. The service works closely with the police and other agencies in identifying and managing risks associated with victims and perpetrators of crime.
To provide good quality, comprehensive and holistic Health assessments and support joint working within the inter-agency Early Help and YJS care pathway.
Operating a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency approach bridging health and local authority services.
Offering priority non -judgemental health assessments of young people recently released from custody, including health risk assessment screening in the context of the alleged offence .
To work as an autonomous practitioner and where appropriate work jointly with multidisciplinary colleagues
To recognize child protection situations including contextual safeguarding and have the knowledge and be aware of and adhere to guidelines and know when and how to inform and share these concerns with social services or if unsure with other colleagues and when necessary, with the Team Manager.
To manage own caseload using clinical supervision/safeguarding supervision and collaborative teamwork to help in this process.
To manage family and other groups of adolescents and adults who at times may be physically and verbally aggressive towards other members of the family and/or staff. To ensure safety as a paramount consideration and to be aware of different levels of intervention.
To manage a caseload and be the health care coordinator within a multi-agency team

As with other ICS’s, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. Whilst all organisations remain as standalone, statutory bodies we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.

To provide good quality, comprehensive Health assessments and evidence-based interventions and to support joint working within the inter-agency Early Help and YJS care pathway.
Carry out holistic health assessments at the early stage ideally building on previous information available from contact with mainstream services and assisted at this early stage to access mainstream Health packages of support ( develop fast track arrangements especially for access to Primary Care and Public Health).
Operating a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency approach bridging health and local authority services.

Follow through to ensure young people have access to identified care pathways to access services within the Early Help pathway and/ or CAMHS and Therapy (physiotherapy-occupational therapy –dietetics –SLT).
To work as an autonomous practitioner and where appropriate work jointly with multidisciplinary colleagues
In relation to highly complex cases, to liaise with and participate in joint work with specialist mental health staff as appropriate e.g. substance misuse services, access to Therapies, Public Health programs.
To recognize child protection situations including contextual safeguarding and have the knowledge and be aware of and adhere to guidelines and know when and how to inform and share these concerns with social services or if unsure with other colleagues and when necessary, with the Team Manager.
To manage own caseload using clinical supervision/safeguarding supervision and collaborative teamwork to help in this process.

To manage a caseload and be the health care coordinator within a multi-agency team and be responsible for contributing to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs of health care in accordance with evolving CPA guidelines within the community setting.
To develop clear access pathways into a range of mainstream health services and specialist health teams backed up by well-developed formal agreements to get young people linked up with the range of provision best placed to meet their multiple needs and providing a transition pathway from child to adult services for young people with emerging mental health, substance misuse, physical health difficulties and chronic health conditions
Establish effective interpersonal channels of communication with fellow professionals within Health, Youth Offending Unit and key partnership agencies.
To keep accurate records of clinical work following Trust guidelines and to supply written reports as appropriate.
To lead on an area of team development or service delivery as appropriate and in agreement with the YJS manager. This may include: audit, user participation, parenting or group work, trauma or being the liaison lead for key partner agencies.
To participate fully in all organizational activities of the Youth Justice service
To help develop appropriate training of other team members as appropriate and participate in the education of new workers and students through the provision of fieldwork, teaching and supervision, tutorials and case presentations, evaluations and reports.
To arrange, plan and offer students sessions to discuss the role of health in Youth Justice.
To work within legal, professional and ethical frameworks established by National bodies e.g. Dept. of Health and NMC.
Submit monthly statistical and performance data as required.
Collate and report on clinical information and data sets across a specific area(s).
