Summary


The Registered Nursing Associate are to provide a high standard holistic, person-centred nursing care, monitor care and treatment to an identified group of patients under the direction of Registered Nurse.

They are accountable and work independently – within the remit of the role – to assess, plan, implement and evaluate; undertaking aspects of care delegated by registered nurses.

Equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and behaviours relevant to employment, they will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to which they are registered.
• Ensuring that a service user centred multi-disciplinary approach to care is present
• Assess, plan, implement and monitor care in keeping with evidence-based practice.
• Ensure timely referrals to a registered nurse when any actions, care or treatment is required.
• To take an active role in direct service user care and role model to junior staff.
• To provide guidance to junior staff relevant to clinical speciality.
• Ensuring that care reflects individual and cultural needs considering any reasonable adjustments that may be required.
• Recognising and acting upon safeguarding concerns.
• Ensuring that all practices are within the guidelines set out by the NMC and other professional groups and are in accordance with Trust policies, Trust 3 Key objectives, core behaviours, and the Trust Nursing Strategy.
• Identify and report clinical risks to the Registered Nurse, Caseload manager, Team manager or Area manager in other for appropriate action in accordance with the Trust risk management policy.
• Administration of medication to include, subcutaneous injections, eye drops, ear drops, enema’s, , liquid and tablets.
• Diabetes management for stable diabetes care, including insulin administration BM monitoring.
• Bowel management of stable long-term conditions management including enemas, bowel evacuations methods.
