Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our Centralised Booking Service in Women & Children's Health. This post is open to applications from those wishing to complete a level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship.

The role of the Centralised Booking Office is to provide a comprehensive booking service for all newly pregnant women referred to NBT for community midwifery care.

Along with two colleagues, the administrator will be responsible for the day to day running of the centralised booking service. Requests and referrals will be prioritised ensuring that appointments are scheduled according to gestation and following NBT guidance and policy.

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, both face to face and on the telephone. The ability to deal with varied administrative duties, IT systems and changing priorities is essential. The majority of the apprenticeship learning is on the job training, however you will have dedicated study time when required.

The hours of the post are 37.5 hours per week and can be worked flexibly within the hours of the service (Monday - Friday 07:30 - 17:00).

The main duties of the role include coordinating, booking and rearranging women’s appointments, handling sensitive and confidential information, managing access to theBadgerNotesportal, and liaising with community midwifery teams across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.The post holder will alsobe requiredto liaise with neighbouring trust community teams and booking office as required to redirect referrals, to liaise with screening midwives as required, to manage the patient administration system (includingmaintainingdata quality), and to troubleshoot patient access issues to theBadgerNotesportal.



The centralised booking office is a small friendly team located within the women and children's quarter at Southmead hospital. The team works closely with community midwifery teams across Bristol.

North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the South West region and one of the largest in the country. NBT has a level 3 NICU and is the host for the South West Maternal Medicine Network.

The Trust moved the majority of its acute services to the Brunel Building in May 2014 which is regarded as one of the best hospital facilities in Europe, on the Southmead Hospital site. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. The women and children’s services are delivered on the same site in a closely adjacent building.

This role is also available with a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, which entails:
• 15-18 month training and support to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to gain a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship qualification
• Monthly assignments, skills assessments and 1:1 support with a dedicated tutor/assessor
• Workplace mentor to support you to put your learning into practice
• End Point Assessment delivered by Innovate Awarding – graded Pass or Distinction
• Learn a set of highly transferable skills and behaviours including IT, communications, decision making, projects, interpersonal skills, quality assurance, planning and organisation in the workplace, business fundamentals and team work amongst others.

Please note to be eligible for the apprenticeship you must be:
• Over the age of 16
• Have lived in the UK/EEA for the past 3 years
• Have the right to work and reside in the UK
• Hold GCSE Maths and English at minimum of Grade C/4
