Summary


The job is to work as a lead technician in the equipment library to perform the following:
• Standard equipment library activities such as medical equipment loan, collection, moving, cleaning, ordering accessories.
• Ward audits of low to medium risk medical equipment across all clinical areas in the Trust.
• Maintenance and minor repairs of low to medium risk medical equipment as instructed by the Medical Equipment Technicians Group Leader.
• Replace and order gas and suction therapy equipment across all clinical areas in the Trust.
• Perform medical equipment inventory audits using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system

The Department consists of:
1. Medical Devices Technical Services (MDTS)
2. Clinical Engineering
3. Radiation Protection
4. Non-Ionising Radiation (Ultrasound & MRI)
5. Nuclear Medicine
6. Business Administration

Role of MDTS:

The Section is responsible for providing a wide ranging of medical devices technical and maintenance services to St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The services provided include technical input into the devices selection, commission of new medical devices and acceptance tests prior to devices being put into clinical use, deploy and medical devices into clinical areas, implement planned preventative maintenance program, repair of faulty devices, resolve medical devices IT connectivity faults, negotiating cost effective contracts for maintenance by suppliers,

Role of the Equipment Library:
1. To house a variety of medical devices, from small pumps to large air mattresses, which can be loaned to clinical departments across St. George’s Hospital.
2. To deliver, collect, clean and test the medical devices housed in the library, ensuring that they are in good working order and stored correctly together with their completed leads and accessories.
3. To find medical devices that are due for service in the hospital and bringing them back to the EBME & the beds team workshop(s) for service
4. To deliver medical devices back to clinical areas when they are serviced by EBME & the beds team.
