Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a full time, Band 8a, Haemoglobinopathy (Red Cell Lab) Technical Lead for Clinical Blood Sciences specialising in Haematology across the South West London Pathology (SWLP) Network. This post is based at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust however the post holder will be required to work across the SWLP sites.

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Technical Lead who has an excellent understanding of haemoglobinopathy and other red cell disorders . The successful candidate must have good interpersonal and IT skills as well as being self-motivated.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the department’s quality management system is implemented and maintained. The department uses Q-Pulse to manage its documentation and the successful candidate will play an active role in its functionality. Candidates must be fully conversant with the ISO accreditation standards and current Sickle cell and Thalassemia screening program and work with all grades of staff to ensure that the department is fully compliant at all times. The post holder will also have responsibility for health and safety throughout the department.

The Haemoglobinopathy lab provide a 5 day a week service, and liaise with midwives across 3 sites.

Main aspects of the role include:
• Will have an active role in providing the department's antenatal haemoglobinopathy program.
• Oversee and execute the validation, verification and change control processes used within the department
• Coordinate training of staff with designated training lead within the network.
• Coordinate with network quality team to ensure QMS is adhered to.

The candidate must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
