CONSULTANT - ACUTE MEDICINE
10 PA's - Permanent Post available

Following significant investment in our Acute Medical team we’re excited to be advertising two brand new positions to complement our pre-existing team of Consultants and Associate Specialists. This is an exciting time to be joining our Acute Medical Team under the leadership of Dr Martin Pattrick, Specialty Lead & Dr Hisham Ghanayem, Clinical Director, as we expand our Acute Medical offer for the patients of Tameside & Glossop.

The unit consists of a 46 Acute Medical unit and 26 step down acute medical ward. Significant transformational change has occurred over the last few years especially within Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) under the supervision of our GP Extended Role SDEC, being supported by a range of ACP’s, Medical and nursing teams.

As an acute medical consultant, you will work on the Emergency Floor; both our Acute wards and SDEC.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to have a central role in the development of Acute Medical Services and to participate in our exciting transformational programme as an Integrated Care Organisation, whilst providing high quality acute care for our patients.

The successful candidate must be currently working at Consultant level in Acute medicine, and completed their CESR or CCT. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for further development and be supported by a clinical supervisor as part of their career progression.

As an acute medical consultant, you will work on the Emergency Floor; both our Acute wards and SDEC.

Clinical responsibilities will be the consultant review of new medical admissions, supervision of junior medical staff working on the floor and the consultant supervision of medical SDEC. You will lead multidisciplinary board rounds and be a senior point of contact for on-day issues,

In your SPA time, alongside time needed for activities needed for revalidation and appraisal, there will be the opportunity to explore other areas of interest, taking on additional responsibilities both within acute medicine and the wider trust.
