To provide support for a 14-year-old young girl who has a rare genetic disorder which affects neurological development. As a result of this condition the young person has development delay, learning disabilities and limited communication. There are traits of Autism and sensory processing issues.
MAIN DUTIES We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to enable this young girl to access social and leisure activities in the local community.
She is a happy and sociable young girl and can be funny as well as mischievous. Boundaries are required to help her regulate her behaviour and keep her safe, as she has no danger awareness.
She enjoys going outside either walking, cycling, playing on her scooter and walking her dog. Other activities she enjoys include swimming, playing with Duplo and on her iPad.
You will be required to support this young girl with her personal care.
Hours 3 hours per week during term time weeks, any weekday after school.
Some flexibility around which days the support happens in school holiday weeks where there are 5 hours per week.
Rate of pay £13.09 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata.
Out of pocket expenses will be met by the employer.
Person Specification The successful applicant must:
· have experience working with children and young people who have disabilities · have a positive understanding towards children and young people with disabilities
· have a genuine interest in working with children and young people with complex needs
· have a high degree of initiative
· be punctual and reliable as the young person cannot be left unsupervised · be flexible
· have a happy, positive, and caring nature
· respect confidentiality
Car driver is not essential, however if using your own car, it must have business insurance. An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
