Are you looking for a flexible, part-time role where you can make a visible difference in your community?

We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Housing Caretaker to help keep our neighbourhoods safe, clean and welcoming—supporting communities across Merseyside. This is a great opportunity to work in a hands-on, community-based role while building experience in housing or property services.

Who we are:

Plus Dane provides homes and services to over 30,000 people across Merseyside and Cheshire. Our aim is to tackle social inequality by enabling individuals and communities to thrive and our customer team is at the heart of what we do.

Working with our customers really does change people’s lives and if you want to make a difference Plus Dane is the place to be!

We live by our values of working together, achieving for our customers, taking ownership, and having the opportunity to learn and grow.

About the Role:

As a Housing Caretaker, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our communal areas are safe, compliant and welcoming for residents.

This is a hands-on, site-based role where you’ll spend most of your time out in our communities, working independently across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities include:

Carrying out regular communal inspections to ensure compliance with fire safety, health & safety and legal requirements
Identifying hazards, obstructions and environmental issues, recording findings and arranging follow-up actions
Testing fire panels, emergency lighting, and undertaking communal water flushing
Managing access arrangements for communal areas and supporting contractors on site
Monitoring and reporting on contractor performance
Working closely with Neighbourhood Housing Teams to support local service delivery
Building positive relationships with residents, colleagues and partners

You’ll be a visible presence on our estates and a trusted point of contact in the community.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, organised and comfortable working independently in a community setting.

You don’t need direct housing experience—we’re interested in people with the right attitude, transferable skills and willingness to learn.

You’ll bring:

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
Experience delivering good customer service
Confidence communicating with a range of people, including residents and contractors
An understanding of the importance of health & safety (or willingness to learn)
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Basic IT skills (e.g. emails, recording information)

Who this role is ideal for

This role is ideal if you’re looking for part-time work—whether you’re:

Returning to work
Balancing caring or other commitments
Looking to supplement your income
Interested in starting a career in housing or property services

What you’ll get in return:

This is a part-time, 12-month fixed-term role, working Thursday and Friday. Your main base will be Merseyside, though occasional cover in Cheshire may be required, so flexibility and the ability to travel are essential.

You’ll be generously rewarded with a competitive salary and a great benefits package, including 35 days’ annual leave (pro rata), plus bank holidays. This includes a 3-day Christmas closedown between Christmas and New Year and you have the option to buy up to 5 extra days annually.

You’ll also benefit from a company pension scheme where we contribute 10%, and colleagues can contribute anything from 3% upwards. We’re committed to our people’s wellbeing supported by an excellent management team, wellbeing champions, and mental health first aiders.

We actively encourage personal development, with plenty of opportunities to progress your career and access ongoing training, including formal qualifications.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.

If you need any adjustments to apply or attend an interview, please let us know.
