Job Title: Site Manager Assistant
Location: Hazel Cottage School, Fazakerley, Liverpool L10 1LD
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Salary: £24,500 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | 52 Weeks
Start: September 2026
About the Role
Are you practical, proactive and take pride in creating safe, welcoming environments where children and young people can flourish?
Hazel Cottage School is entering an exciting period of growth with the development of our specialist provision across two sites. We're looking for a dedicated Assistant Site Manager to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring our schools remain safe, secure and well-maintained for the pupils and staff who rely on them every day.
This is far more than a maintenance role. You'll be a valued member of our school community, helping to create environments where children with complex SEND needs, including Autism and pre-verbal learners, can feel secure, supported and ready to learn.
No two days are ever the same. One day you could be carrying out repairs and site checks, the next supporting contractors, preparing learning spaces or helping ensure our facilities meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.
What you will be doing
Supporting the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep and presentation of both school sites.
Carrying out basic repairs, decorating and general caretaking duties to a high standard.
Completing routine health and safety checks, reporting hazards and maintaining compliance records.
Assisting with planned preventative maintenance and responding to reactive maintenance requests.
Supporting contractors and external visitors, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
Helping maintain school grounds, outdoor spaces and specialist learning environments.
Assisting with fire safety procedures, site security, lock-up arrangements and emergency evacuations.
Monitoring tools, equipment and supplies, ensuring they are used, stored and maintained correctly.
Supporting with site set-up for events, meetings and whole-school activities.
Working collaboratively across both Hazel Cottage sites to ensure the best possible environment for pupils and staff.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
Experienced in hands-on building maintenance, including carrying out small repairs, decorating and general caretaking duties to a high standard.
Practical, proactive and confident tackling a variety of day-to-day maintenance tasks across a busy school environment.
Knowledgeable about Health and Safety requirements, with a good understanding of safe working practices and the importance of maintaining a compliant site.
In possession of a full UK driving licence, with the ability to travel and work across both Hazel Cottage School sites.
Organised and reliable, able to prioritise workloads and work independently when needed.
A positive team player with excellent communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude.
Calm under pressure, adaptable and solution-focused, responding effectively to changing priorities.
Understanding and respectful of the needs of children and young people within a specialist SEND environment.
Experience of working within a school environment would be preferred but is not essential. If you have the right attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine commitment to creating safe, welcoming environments where young people can thrive, we'd love to hear from you
