Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Head of Revenues and Benefits to lead and oversee our Revenues and Benefits department on an interim basis. This critical leadership role is perfect for a seasoned professional who excels in managing complex revenue streams, benefit programs, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies. The successful candidate will bring strategic vision and strong operational expertise to drive efficiency, accuracy, and customer service excellence within the department. You will be responsible for steering your team through periods of change, providing clear guidance and leadership while implementing best practices for revenue collection and benefits administration. This role requires a proactive and adaptable individual who can quickly assess and address challenges, ensuring that all financial processes are compliant, transparent, and aligned with organizational goals. Communication and stakeholder engagement will be key as you work collaboratively across multiple teams and external partners to optimize service delivery and performance. Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and operational management for the Revenues and Benefits department during the interim period.
Ensure accurate and timely collection of all revenues including council tax, business rates, and other income streams.
Oversee the administration and processing of benefits including housing benefit and council tax support schemes.
Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies governing revenues and benefits.
Lead, motivate, and develop the Revenues and Benefits team to maintain high performance and service standards.
Implement and monitor performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure integrated service provision and effective stakeholder communication.
Requirements
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within Revenues and Benefits or a closely related financial service function.
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices relating to revenues and benefits.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.
Excellent leadership and people management capabilities, with experience in managing teams through change.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to liaise effectively at all organizational levels.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience in revenue and benefits management.
