Summary
Demand Distribution Limited is a fast-growing UK-based FMCG importer and wholesale distributor supplying retailers and trade customers with high-demand consumer products, including vapes, drinks, chocolates and lifestyle goods. As the business continues to grow its supplier network, customer base and wholesale operations, the company requires a dedicated Tax and Financial Accounts Associate to manage its financial records, taxation matters, compliance obligations and internal financial controls.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that Demand Distribution Limited maintains accurate financial reporting, efficient tax compliance, reliable cash-flow management and strong financial controls. The role will help the business reduce financial errors, avoid tax and reporting risks, improve cost efficiency, support better pricing and margin decisions, and ensure that management has accurate financial information for commercial decision-making.
Main Duties Include:
• Prepare monthly management accounts, profit and loss reports, balance sheet reconciliations and financial performance summaries for management review.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for sales, purchases, supplier invoices, customer payments, stock-related costs, expenses and bank transactions.
• Prepare and review VAT records, VAT return working papers, corporation tax schedules and supporting tax documentation to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
• Reconcile supplier accounts, customer accounts, bank accounts and key balance sheet items to identify and correct errors, omissions or inconsistencies.
• Monitor import-related costs, freight charges, duties, logistics expenses and landed product costs to ensure accurate stock costing and profitability analysis.
• Analyse gross margins, product profitability, sales trends, supplier costs and pricing data to support commercial decision-making and cost-saving opportunities.
• Support cash-flow forecasting, budgeting, working capital planning, customer credit control and supplier payment management.
• Liaise with external accountants, tax advisers, auditors and HMRC where required, providing accurate financial records and responding to tax or accounting queries.
• Improve internal financial controls over purchases, sales, payments, receipts, stock records and reporting processes to reduce errors and prevent duplicated or incorrect transactions.
• Provide directors and senior management with clear financial analysis and practical recommendations to improve financial efficiency, tax compliance and overall business performance.
Skills and Education:
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting, financial reporting, VAT, corporation tax and general tax compliance requirements.
• Experience preparing or supporting management accounts, VAT returns, tax schedules, reconciliations, statutory accounts or year-end financial records.
• Ability to analyse supplier costs, product margins, cash flow, profitability and stock-related financial data to support commercial decision-making.
• Strong Excel, accounting software and financial systems skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.
• Good communication, organisation and professional judgement, with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines and explain financial or tax matters clearly to management and non-finance staff.
