Summary
1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 1 (Nurture & Behaviour Support)
Thrive Education is recruiting a nurturing and energetic Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 1 child who requires high level behavioural and emotional support. This role centres on play based learning, emotional regulation, and building secure, trusting relationships. Ideal for someone with a warm, patient approach and a passion for early years development.
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: £90–£105 per day (dependent on experience)
Type: Full-Time, Term-Time only, September Start School Type: Mainstream Primary
Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 child with significant behavioural needs Deliver play based, nurturing activities to support engagement Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to follow support plans Create a calm, safe and encouraging learning environment Support transitions and routines throughout the school day
Candidate Requirements Experience with early years or KS1 pupils Strong nurturing and relationship building skills Understanding of behaviour support and emotional needs Creative, playful and patient approach Ability to remain calm and consistent under pressure Commitment to supporting the child’s long term development
