Summary
Job Description:
Core Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook breakfast, brunch, lunch, and snack menu items (e.g., sandwiches, salads, Toasties) to exact specifications.
Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a spotless workspace by adhering to Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.
Stock Control: Monitor inventory, rotate stock using the FIFO method, handle deliveries, and minimize food wastage.
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with Front of House (FOH) staff to ensure seamless service, accommodating dietary requirements and special requests.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in a professional kitchen or busy café.
Strong working knowledge of allergen management, food safety, and hygiene regulations.
Ability to stay calm and efficient under pressure during peak service hours.
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Typical Work Environment
Hours: Daytime-only (7:30 AM to 4.30 PM), making it highly attractive for achieving a work-life balance compared to traditional evening restaurant jobs.
Pace: High-volume and fast-paced, requiring hands-on multitasking

Due to high demand and a very successful first few years we are now looking to hire another Chef to add to our wonderful Fig Team!

We've sent out some fantastic dishes and therefore have a very heavy percentage of regular customers who return daily, weekly and monthly. Although we pride ourselves on our food, drink and service, our biggest asset is definitely our team. We have a very low staff turnover rate and this is due to how everyone works so well together and has a great time whilst on shift.
We will always strive for authenticity but being innovative and modern is also extremely important to us. We are looking for someone that has experience working in a busy kitchen and that remains calm under pressure.
We are a family run business, so you will need to be able to work as part of a team and help out where needed We currently have 30 covers inside and 32 covers in the courtyard outside.
Pay will be salaried and is dependent on experience and weekly hours.
