SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Oldham Hours: 8:30am to 3:40pm
Pay Rate: From £102 per day
Start Date: September 2026, Ongoing / Long-Term (with potential to extend or go permanent) Are you a patient, caring, and resilient individual looking to make a real difference in young people's lives? We're currently seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming SEN setting in Oldham, supporting students with additional learning needs in a nurturing and structured environment. About the Role: As an SEN TA, you'll play a key role in supporting pupils who may have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism (ASC), or other learning barriers. You'll work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students re-engage with learning, develop self-confidence, and achieve their personal goals. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support during lessons and activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation through calm, consistent approaches.
- Assisting with tailored learning programmes that meet individual needs.
- Building trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood, and motivated.
- Supporting students' social development during unstructured times and transitions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on, child-centred environment and is passionate about inclusion and alternative education. The Ideal Candidate: We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with SEN / SEMH pupils or within an Alternative Provision / PRU / SEND school.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting challenging behaviour.
- Can work effectively as part of a small, supportive team.
- Is available 8:30-3:40pm on a long term basis
- Holds a Child and Adult Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply for one).
A background in youth work, psychology, or social care would be a great advantage, but not essential, the right attitude and commitment to supporting young people are what truly matter.
