About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Personal Assistant Carer to join a team of PA’s who support a 13-year-old girl with complex health needs. The role will begin at Alder Hey Hospital and continue at her home in Runcorn once she is discharged.
The role will involve continuing to provide care and support during any hospital admissions and also to provide support to appointments.
This is a 2:1 care role, requiring close collaboration with another carer to ensure the client’s safety, comfort, and well-being at all times.
The successful candidate must be confident and comfortable working with complex health needs in a high-dependency care environment. This includes supporting clinical procedures such as jejunostomy feeding, suctioning, seizure management and manual handling using specialist equipment.
Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is essential; the Personal Assistant must be willing to work both day and night shifts and be available to adapt to short-notice changes in the rota to ensure continuous, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high-level personal care and emotional support
• Administer medication and feeds via jejunostomy
• Perform NP/oral suction as required
• Seizure and symptom management
• Assist with moving and handling using a ceiling track hoist
• Work both day and night shifts, with flexibility for short-notice changes
• Maintain a calm, respectful, and professional environment
Essential Requirements:
• Previous experience supporting individuals with complex medical needs
• Confidence in delivering complex care
• Willingness to undergo training in specific clinical tasks
• Flexibility (hours may change at short notice)
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small, consistent care team
Essential Skills and Attributes:
• Caring and compassionate
• Patient and consistent
• Resourceful and energetic
• Flexible and reliable
• Good listener and communicator
• Dedicated to high standards of care
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• Punctual and dependable
What We Offer:
• £13.71 per hour (paid 4 weekly)
• 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year
• Pension
• Ongoing training and support tailored to the client’s needs
• A rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a young person’s life
• Supportive working environment with a committed care team
To apply for this role you must be eligible to work in the UK and meet all national safeguarding criteria.
The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check paid for by the employer.
Please only apply for this position if you can commit to this job role and the hours requested - no time wasters.
