We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team at Burscough Manor Care Home. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for food and service who wants to make a real difference to the daily lives of our residents.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll be a key part of our catering team, helping to deliver high-quality, nutritious meals every day. You’ll work closely with our Chef to ensure residents enjoy fresh, home-cooked food in a clean and welcoming environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages
Ensuring the kitchen and food service areas are clean, tidy, and meet hygiene standards
Supporting the Chef with food storage, stock rotation, and deliveries
Washing up and general kitchen cleaning tasks
Helping to cater for individual dietary needs and preferences
Maintaining health & safety and food hygiene practices at all times
Playing an active part in creating a warm, supportive mealtime experience for residents

What we’re looking for:

Previous experience as a catering or kitchen assistant is desirable but not essential – we value attitude and enthusiasm just as much
A Food Hygiene Certificate is ideal but not required – full training is provided
Someone with good communication skills and a can-do approach
A team player who is happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in
A genuine interest in working within a care setting, where your work directly impacts people’s wellbeing
