SummaryThe role will provide the opportunity for someone who has a genuine interest in accountancy to start their career in accountancy. The role will be varied, and you will be provided 'on-the-job' training to support your AAT apprenticeship studies.Wage£15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your ageTraining course Assistant accountant (level 3)Hours Monday- Friday 9am- 5pm37 hours 30 minutes a weekWorkMost of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.What you'll do at workYou will be responsible for undertaking high quality accounts preparation services for a range of business clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.The apprentice will support the finance function within the organisation and carry out a range of accounting activities appropriate to an AAT Level 3 Assistant Accountant role.1. Client AccountsSetting up new accounts file and listing books received, noting any missing informationProcessing client records to draft accounts stageCompleting file sections and cross referencing schedulesCompleting work programmes and administration paperworkProcessing transactions using Cloud software (Xero/Quickbooks/sage etc.)2. VATSet up new section in VAT file and check all client records receivedProcessing client records to draft VAT returnComplete VAT return form when checkedCommunicate with client when VAT return is complete and submit to HMRC3. GeneralUndertake general administration tasksEffectively communicate with colleagues within the organisation to promote teamwork across the group and assist in the development of internal relationshipsIdentify and meet personal job-related training as requiredProvide assistance in terms of general and specific support toPartners and managers as requiredUndertake other reasonable work activities as determined by the Partners and managersUndertake appropriate training to ensure CPD criteria is metDesired skills and personal qualitiesStrong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detailConfident using Microsoft Excel and accounting softwareClear written and verbal communication skillsWell organised, able to manage deadlines and prioritise workloadProfessional, proactive attitude with a commitment to professional developmentAble to work independently and collaboratively within a teamSkills & AttributesStrong attention to detail and organisational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong IT skills: experience with Xero, QuickBooks or similar software is advantageousAbility to adapt quickly to new systems, software and regulatory changesConfidence in taking responsibility for technical work appropriate to the roleAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a small teamRequirementsEssential qualificationsGCSE in:English (grade 4)maths (grade 4)Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience.
