A Little About Me

I am a man in my 70s living in the Treorchy area with my wife and two dogs. I have a diagnosis of mixed dementia (Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia). My wife is my main carer day to day. I enjoy having company and I am most settled when out in the car. I used to play darts and snooker, but I now only watch these on TV. I like Formula 1 racing and I’m a fan of Ferrari cars.

Purpose of the Role

I am seeking a PA who can support me within the home and take me out for car journeys and local trips. This will also provide my wife with some respite.

Hours of Work

15 hours per week

One shift will include a Thursday 9AM to 3PM, rest of the hours are flexible

Rate of Pay

£15.70 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities

Sitting support to provide me with company
Ensure I feel safe and comfortable at home
Support me in a calming manner when I am tired or confused
Meal and drink preparation
Taking me out in the car and possibly to the pub
Social stimulation and companionship (at home and possibly in the community)
Any other practical tasks as time allows
Ensuring my safety at all times

Person Specification

The successful applicant will be:

Experienced in, or knowledgeable about, my medical condition
Someone who has energy and is talkative
Patient and understanding
Comfortable working in a home with dogs
Car driver/owner with business class insurance



About the job

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
