Summary
I am seeking a Personal Assistant, to provide a range of support for me. I am an 8-year-old girl with Spina Bifida and Autism/ADHD, living with my mum and twin sister in Greenock West area.
Job Details:
This is a permanent post, and the 8 hours per week will ideally be split across 3-4 days, usually mid-week after school (between the hours of 3pm – 6pm) and one weekend day (can be flexible), however, the PA would need to be flexible and adaptable to respond to my changing needs (e.g. to assist with a medical appointments). N.B. There is potential for the hours to increase to 12 over time/subject to review.
About me:
I love chocolate, singing, jokes, drawing, crafts, one-to-one play, going for walks in my wheelchair and very much enjoy adult company and attention. I would love for my PA to enjoy these things with me!
About this opportunity:
I would like my PA to take me to my Barnardo’s and Boccia visits after school and during school holidays I would like to be taken out for other fun activities (e.g. play4all or outdoor play at the park). I am happy even going for walks in my wheelchair!
I would also like it if my PA could be available for a few hours over the weekend to spend some time with my mum and sister too.
I use a walker full-time and without this would require support to manoeuvre around. Occasionally, I use my wheelchair for appointments, walks or for busy places where a walker isn’t suitable. I am not very hazard-aware so my PA would need to be mindful of this. I wear nappies due to being doubly incontinent and would need help with changing when required. I also use an intermittent catheter every 4 hours which requires adult assistance to do this. Training is required and this can be provided, however please note this is not an immediate requirement and can be worked towards over time.
Key Skills/Requirements:
• Ideally previous experience in a similar personal assistant/care role
• Commitment to providing quality care & support.
• Ability to treat individuals with dignity and respect.
• Applications from individuals with intermittent catheter experience would be most welcome, however not essential!
• Ideally a car owner/driver, however this is not essential.
• PVG scheme membership
Terms:
• £13.45 per hour.
• 8 hours per week, over 3-4 days (days and hours will be agreed between myself and successful PA during recruitment process).
If you are interested in being my PA, please email your CV/note of interest to Roz Hunter at Circles Advocacy, roz.hunter@circlesnetwork.org.uk or call her on 01475 730797 / 07557 480851
