Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

An exciting opportunity is available for a talented science teacher to join our large, vibrant and established team working in the heart of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley. We are seeking a highly skilled scientist to join an enthusiastic and well motivated team of eleven specialist science teachers with a wide range of experience in delivering high quality education to pupils across the age and ability range.

As an all-through school for pupils aged 4 -16, there is an opportunity to learn about and perhaps even contribute to the primary science provision and help shape science across 5 key stages. Scientific enquiry is deeply embedded in our ethos and our annual science week is just one celebration of the joy and passion each and every member of our team has for the subject. This is a very supportive and high functioning department that looks forward to welcoming its newest member.

We have experienced considerable growth and enhancement of our site and facilities in recent years, including the refurbishment of our accommodation. The science department benefits from 10 beautifully furnished and well-equipped laboratories, two classrooms and two preparation rooms, all of which are fantastically resourced and supported by excellent EdTech.

Inclusion here at Ribblesdale is paramount as we strive to provide an education rich in opportunity for all our pupils. Our Personal Development provision is ‘outstanding’ (OFSTED) with our unique Enrichment Programme helping pupils to foster their talents and gain new skills and experiences, beyond the classroom walls. Our use of education technology has seen us recognised as a Microsoft Showcase School at the forefront of educational technology and innovation.

Applications are welcomed from confident, aspirational teachers who will share our passion for high quality pedagogy informed by the latest research. A thirst for championing science across all aspects of the school is vital, along with the enthusiasm and commitment to continue to drive forward at this exciting time.

What the school offers its staff

Our expert, friendly teaching and support staff work hard to ensure that our school continues to grow and improve, keeping our pupils’ development needs at the heart of all we do. ‘The Ribblesdale Way’ encapsulates the core beliefs and expectations we hold for our pupils and staff. Ribblesdale School is a Microsoft Showcase School and a founder member and key contributor to the North-West EdTech hub. Every pupil in our care benefits from our Ofsted Grade 1 personal development programme which incorporates our unique enrichment curriculum.

Ribblesdale is a popular and successful school which enjoys close links with the local community it has served for more than 90 years. I would positively encourage candidates to visit Ribblesdale School in order that they may better understand the ethos and atmosphere of our learning community.
